Start with the performance you want
Do you want to hear the original actors, follow a familiar dub or make the dialogue easier to read? Those choices lead to different settings. Find the film first, then check audio and subtitle tracks in the viewing option. A French title in search is a title translation, not confirmation of French audio.
When a subtitle track is missing
Open the player’s language menu and look for separate Audio and Subtitles controls. If your language is absent, check another available edition of the same production. A service may offer different language choices across countries or seasons. Changing the text language of a browser page will not add a track to its video.
Make the text comfortable
If the player allows customization, choose a readable size and a contrasting outline or background. Test the result over a bright scene as well as a dark one. A subtitle that is readable on a phone may need a larger size on the television. When timing controls exist, make a small adjustment against a clear spoken line rather than an action sequence.
Names that travel
