A familiar title is only the beginning
Fall and The Fall can lead to several unrelated stories. Love Island depends on which national cast you follow. Mean Girls might mean the original school comedy or the later musical. These comparisons put those choices next to one another so a recognizable name does not send you to the wrong evening.
Three useful clues
Compare year, format and original language. For a series, the year identifies its beginning, not the season you are currently watching. Country can be essential when two editions begin in the same year, as with the British and Australian versions of The Traitors. For an adaptation, the cast and original title provide another quick check.
Remakes do not continue the same sequence
My Fault: London retells a story in a different setting. It does not follow Our Fault as another chapter of the Spanish-language film sequence. HPI and High Potential likewise have independent episode histories. Choose the version you intend before saving a checkpoint.
Keep the distinction in your list
